Iridium Flare

Here is an 'Iridium Flare."

This is what occurs when the sun shines just right on a satellite.

This happens to be one of the Iridium communication satellite.

There are about sixty Iridium satellites which form a constellation that allows communication from anywhere on the planet's surface.

While this was way more expensive than simple cellular service, the Iridium satellites have a large commercial and military market.

The Iridiums make great flares due to their three large, shiny panel antennae. [link]
