EFMB Tribute no.1

During my years of active duty service in the US Army, this is what I consider my greatest acheivement.

The Expert Field Medic Badge was then, and is still now, one of the most coveted badges to be earned in the US. Army.

To win this badge one must pass a rigourous testing of physical fitness, military knowledge, field medicine, mitltary intelligence, map reading, night and day compass courses, care and transport of sick and wounded, field sanitation, and much more. A gruelling written test and twelve mile road march(three hours max) in full gear await those who have passed everything else. Even though I was exhausted, my pride kept a big grin on my face when the general pinned this on my BDU's

Over the years I have observed the standards of training to acheive this honor continue to rise. This badge on the uniform of a medic embodies all of the honors and tradition of military medicine in one place. To the wounded on the battlefield, it means you are in the best hands, of the best field medics in the world bar none!
